That’s Entertainment!

author 100 x 100Staying home means finding things for Handsome and me to do. We love movies and thank goodness for TCM. Old movies rock. And no matter how many times I watch an oldie but goodie, I’ll watch it again. Here’s some I love:

movie BridgetJonesDiaryMoviePoster

Bridget Jones’ Diary-romantic comedy: a reinterpretation of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice. A 32-year-old single woman writes a diary that focuses on the things she wishes to happen in her life.

godfrey

My Man Godfrey-romantic comedy: a socialite hires a “forgotten man” to be her family’s butler, and then falls in love with him.

thin man

The Thin Man-mystery: a retired detective is pressed to find an heiress’ missing father.

Rear_Window_film_poster[1]

Rear Window-mystery: while recuperating from a broken leg, a professional photographer watches his neighbors and witnesses a woman’s murder.

libertyThe Man Who Shot Liberty Valance-western: a politician looks back on his accomplishments in the raw west, but his story will not be published as his reputation is based on a myth.

I have a bookshelf full of books to be read but found most to be thrillers. Something in me craved a lighter read. I started:

mitford

The Mitford series by Jan Karon: The books center on the life of the rector, Father Tim, and the crazy and not so crazy inhabitants.

And for book club, I’m reading:
affairnext door

The Mysteries of Amelia Butterworth: The Affair Next Door by Anna Katherine Green: a mysterious murder has occurred in the house next door to the home of the curious Miss Butterworth.

I love to embroider. After Mom passed, my sisters and I found many pillowcases decorated with tatting made by my grandmother. I’ve been stitching on these for Christmas presents. Here’s a sample:

Spring moved into Summer. The weather has been highly conducive for long walks. I like to snap pix of the gorgeous flowers I’ve found (which I share on my Facebook page as well):

I’ve rambled on far too long.

Can you share with me your movies, books, flowers, or crafts?

I love seeing your embroidery! It reminds me of making fresh beds for my whole family on Saturdays, and picking the prettiest of my grandmother’s embroidered pillowcase for myself. ❤

    1. i have so many pretty pillowcases. I have to use them. I like to stitch while watching tv. I take small needlepoint projects with me when on vacations. When Handsome and I have downtime, I pull out my project and stitch.

  3. Hey, Vicki. I’ve rediscovered TCM and TMC because of your FB posts. Bob and I recently watched Jimmy Stewart in Anatomy of a Murder. Super good story and of course, he’s just wonderful. And I love The Thin Man series. Such clever dialogue. I’ve shared. 🙂

    1. That is a very good movie, Marsha. Well drawn characters and great drama. You picked a winner. And of course, we have a small secret about The Thin Man. #1son shares the hero’s name. LOL.
