“Yeah,” I said, cringing away from the citrusy cloud of alcoholic fumes drifting my way. “Maybe we should.”
Emerging from the shadowy mountain trail to the wide fields blanketed in sunshine, they urged the horses into an easy gallop, and with every stride, hooves shot glistening snow high into the air, and laughter gently tickled the sky.
“Looks like we can chalk up this up to part of our training.” She laughed, hoping to lighten the mood and remind him of the real reason they were forced to spend time together.
